salvation

We believe that salvation comes through a relationship with Jesus.  This starts with you trusting in Him, and believing that He is who He says He is and did what He said He did. In a nutshell, here is what He says about why we need relationship with Him, and how we were created for that very thing.

  • God rules—The Bible tells us God created everything, including you and me, and He is in charge of everything. (Genesis 1:1; Revelation 4:11; Colossians 1:16-17)
  • We sinned—We all choose to disobey God. The Bible calls this sin. Sin separates us from God and deserves God’s punishment of death. (Romans 3:23; 6:23)
  • God provided—God sent Jesus, the perfect solution to our sin problem, to rescue us from the punishment we deserve. It’s something we, as sinners, could never earn on our own. Jesus alone saves us. (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9)
  • Jesus gives—Jesus lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again. Because Jesus gave up His life for us, we can be welcomed into God’s family for eternity. This is the best gift ever! (Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 3:18)
  • We respond—We can respond to Jesus. The ABCs of Becoming a Christian is a simple tool that helps us remember how to respond when prompted by the Holy Spirit to receive the gift Jesus offers.

A-Admit

Admit that we have messed up, are separated from God because of our sin and that we need His forgiveness.

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."  Romans 3:23

b- Believe

Believe that Christ died on the cross for our sins and rose again, conquering death.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."

John 3:16

c- confess

Confess your sin to God, confess that Jesus is Lord and commit yourself to a life of following Him.

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

1 John 1:9

"if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."

Romans 10:9

The Scriptures

The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter.  The criterion by which the Bible is to be interpreted is Jesus Christ.

Southern Baptists have prepared a statement of generally held convictions called the 2000 Baptist Faith And Message. It serves as a detailed guide explaining our beliefs.
